Horizontal grinding (RMO)

Abrapress RMO horizontal lathes are so called because of the horizontal machining of the rough ceramic wheel. This type of machine is used for the machining of the wheel plane and the relevant inside hole. They are essentially made up of a robust metal framework so as to avoid vibrations during machining of the rough ceramic wheel, an electrospindle with jaws for positioning the blank and a machining head.

The machining heads that Abrapress offers are essentially of two types: a “manual” one with a fixed tool and an automatic one with a brushless motor that drives the grinding wheel.

The control systems used in the type of machine are:

• Specially programmed Siemens operator’s panel
• Siemens NC standard operator’s panel with standard ISO programming language
• Siemens NC operator’s panel specially programmed with minimal and dimensional programming of the workpiece.

Through the above programming systems and the correct tool selection, this machine can be used to carry out the following machining operations:

• Plane
• Hollow
• Hole
