External grinding (RME)

Abrapress RME outside grinding machines are so called because they only process the ceramic wheel externally. This type of machine is essentially made up of a robust metal framework so as to avoid vibrations during machining of the rough ceramic grinding wheel, an electrospindle with jaws for positioning the blank and a machining head generally made up of a tool wheel. Both wheels are positioned horizontally.

Some types of machines, generally with the rough wheel up to a diameter of 1000 mm, are equipped with a rotary table controlled by a hydraulic power pack, which allows a grinding wheel being worked and a wheel being prepared externally. This also helps the operator when loading and unloading the ceramic wheel.

The control systems used for this type of machine are:

• Specially programmed Siemens operator’s panel
• Siemens NC standard operator’s panel with standard ISO programming language
• Siemens NC operator’s panel specially programmed with minimal and dimensional programming of the workpiece.
